Hope this finds you well! We are all going through challenging times with: our first pandemic, our daily Presidential press conferences, global stay at home lockdowns, jobs furloughed, job cuts, long lines at the grocery stores, even more online shopping, watching everything on TV.
Although my family and I are experiencing many of these, somethings have not changed.
I am still having normal days of ministry. The big change now is that everyone of my meetings are online. It is now everyone’s new reality.
Pastor Bill and I have had to pivot the way we meet. Last spring Bill and I started meeting. He wanted to talk about discipleship and disciplemaking. His congregation was stuck.
We began going through our book the Alongsider. Every week we met, Bill would come with new insights and challenges as he processed the workbook. It was energizing each time we met at the Bob Evans on Gilcrest. When we finished the workbook, he wanted to take the next step involving his congregation.
Just as we were moving to start our “Growing intentional Disciplemaking Culture” or GiDC the pandemic came upon us all. I did wonder what would happen with this chaos. Would we have to delay till the summer? Would this knock us out of doing our GiDC process?
Here’s the good news. After a couple weeks of adjustment. We got back into our twice a month coach calls. Bill launched his own discipleship group, also online with three other men in his church. These were big steps as he had figure out his online services and all the other ways he needed to serve his church.
We meet this week to discuss his next steps. We will discuss when the core team that will launch the GiDC at his church. We will also need to adjust how we meet for our first training with this team.
I am excited to hear what the Lord has been doing in Bill and how the Lord will take us to our next step in building a disciplemaking culture at his church.
